About Laurie

Laurie Schamber, JD, is a Canadian author and commentator living in Keremeos, British Columbia. With a legal background and a lifelong curiosity about people, systems and the stories we tell, she writes about true crime, public opinion, politics, everyday life and whatever else happens to capture her attention.

Her work looks beyond headlines and easy answers. Whether she is examining courtroom evidence, questioning the way a story has been presented online or reflecting on the stranger moments of her own life, Laurie brings a candid voice, careful analysis and a willingness to say what she actually thinks.

Laurie is the author of Lindsay Clancy: Evidence and Public Opinion—The Trial the Internet Decided, an examination of the evidence presented during the Lindsay Clancy trial and the competing narrative constructed through headlines, livestreams and social media. She is also the author of The Garlic Fell in My Underwear: The Tragicomedy Adventures of a Middle-Aged Woman, an honest and irreverent memoir about family, relationships, travel, mishaps and a life that rarely followed the expected path.

This website is home to Laurie’s books, commentary, personal stories, photography, videos and occasional practical detours. The subjects may vary, but the approach remains the same: stay curious, look closer and keep the conversation going.
